Mrs. Berneice Marie Buchanan

Berneice “Bea” Marie Buchanan 85, of San Antonio, TX, died Friday January 16, 2015. Born June 9, 1929 in Barnsdall, OK to Ralph O. Bates and Nellie Marie Taylor Bates. She was married to Erwin L. Buchanan of Perkins OK on February 3, 1949 until his death September 14, 1993. She was a resident of Jackson, MS from 1970 until she moved to San Antonio in 1996 to be near her daughters. She was employed as a florist but her life’s pastime was ceramics, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She must have tried every craft known to man at least once. She loved working in all her crafts but she especially loved doing ceramics. Unfortunately, she has some UFOs, unfinished objects, left. Bea’s creativity with her attention to the details made her work special and beautiful. She had a great love for music and sang in the choir at Capital Street United Methodist Church in Jackson as a soloist and choir member. She is survived by 3 children, Saundra (Eddie) Rush of Killeen, TX; Bradley, Brad, (Isabel) Buchanan of Brandon, MS and Cynthia, Cindy, (Steve) Hutchinson of San Antonio, TX. 7 grandchildren, Christina Rush Mason, Kimberly Rush Ruehl, Angela Rush Mendez, Dustin Hutchinson, Stephen Hutchinson, Samuel Buchanan, Jessica Buchanan. 4 great grandchildren with a fifth to be born in June. 2 great-great grandchildren. 1 sister, Anna Mae Bradshaw of Tulsa, OK. Graveside services are to be held, Friday January 23, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton Blvd, Jackson MS.
