Mr. Albert Neely Hemphill

Albert Neely Hemphill, 94, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home in Florence. Visitation will be 10am until the 11am funeral service Friday, January 20, 2017 at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery in Florence. Mr. Hemphill was born in Rankin County, MS to the late H.B. and Blanche Smith Hemphill. He was a lifelong resident of Florence and member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Hemphill worked as a Construction Consultant for Bank Corp South, enjoyed traveling, farming, hunting and was a wonderful father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 72 years Marcelle Hemphill and grandson Greg Hemphill. Survivors include his sons Hugh Douglas “Doug” Hemphill (Fay) and Alton (Betty Jo) Hemphill all of Florence; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Mr. Hemphill’s caregivers, Margie, Terri, Trena and Doris. Memorials may be made to Hickory Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund.
