Chancellor Funeral Home Gets Excellence Award
Byram – Chancellor Funeral home of Byram, Mississippi has been honored with the Pursuit of Excellence Award by the national Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), according to an agency spokesperson.
“The Pursuit of Excellence Award Program proves that funeral service excellence is not limited by geographical boundaries,” NFDA Chief Executive Officer Christine Pepper said.
“These award-winning firms, no matter their size or location, are dedicated to improving the face of funeral service by going above and beyond the expectations of the families and communities they serve.”
Only 168 funeral homes nationwide and abroad have received this designation, the spokesperson said.
“We are honored to have received this prestigious award,” Chancellor Funeral Home President Bill Chancellor said.
“This award formalizes what we have been providing to the public for many years – and that is caring and commitment to the many families we have served in the Byram and Florence communities.”
Chancellor explained that the Pursuit of Excellence Award demonstrates strict quality service in the areas of ethical practices, regulator compliance, ongoing education and professional development, outstanding programs and resources to bereaved families, participation in professional associations, and more.
Watts Receives Galloway Memorial Award

The award is presented annually by the MFDA to the outstanding student of the year in each of the state’s four mortuary colleges.
Watts received the award for his academic performance at Holmes Community College in Ridgeland. He graduated in May 2009.
Watts is presently employed as a funeral director and embalmer by Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram.
Las
Vegas, NV: Bill Chancellor , CFSP of Byram, MS was recently
recognized for the achievement of earning the designation of
Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) by the Academy of
Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP) at the National
Funeral Directors Association convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A number of Professions grant
special recognition to members upon completion of specified
academic and professional programs and “CFSP” is funeral
service’s national individual recognition.
Bill received the award by
APFSP President J. Daniel Hutcheson, CFSP, of Buchanan, GA and
Immediate Past President Diana D. Kutz, CSFP, of Newington,
Connecticut.
